Hawthorne Valley
Farm Camp
Since 1972, our mission has been to inspire young individuals to grow into fully realized, dynamic human beings—prepared to meet and serve the needs of their time. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Hudson Valley, Hawthorne Valley offers a unique and enriching summer camp experience where our 900-acre working farm becomes both a classroom and a playground, allowing campers to explore the interconnected wonders of nature and food systems in a hands-on, meaningful way.
Our day and overnight camp programs are designed for children and teens ages 8-16. At Farm Camp, campers dive into the rhythms of farm life—caring for animals, tending to the garden, and harvesting the fruits of their labor to enjoy in delicious, farm-to-table meals and snacks. In addition to farm chores, campers participate in classic camp activities like arts & crafts, games, archery, and swimming, all while cultivating relationships that intertwine humans, plants, and animals.
Join us for an unforgettable summer where adventure, learning, and fun thrive together. Experience the joy of working with the land, building lasting friendships, and growing in ways you never imagined!
WHY FARM CAMP?
In our modern, fast-paced world, there are few opportunities to truly slow down and reconnect with the natural world. At Hawthorne Valley Farm Camp, we offer a rare chance to step away from the noise and experience the rhythms of nature in a meaningful way. Our screen-free camp immerses campers in the full cycle of the farm—from planting and harvesting to caring for animals and enjoying farm-to-table meals. Through this hands-on experience, campers gain a deep understanding of where their food comes from, how it reaches their table, and how to respect and honor every being involved in that journey.
Whether they spend one or two weeks at camp, campers of all ages leave with a newfound awareness that extends far beyond the farm. The experience fosters independence, builds self-confidence, and nurtures compassion for the environment and the world around them.
At Hawthorne Valley, campers don’t just learn about the farm—they live it. Each day, they are guided by the rhythms of our Biodynamic farm, learning how to care for animals, work the land, and develop a profound reverence for the natural world. And in the process, they create memories that will last a lifetime.
Farm Camp isn’t just a place—it’s an experience that can change the way young people see themselves and the world they inhabit.
